Join the SAFE Opioid and Heroin Prevention Task Force and CCPD community policing officers as we canvass the community to distribute Chesterfield County opioid and heroin treatment resource cards. Last year, two groups of volunteers handed out over 500 cards to local businesses, residential areas and community areas.

Opioid Lecture with Sam Quinones, author of “Dream Land”
Kontos Auditorium, VCU Medical Campus

Sam Quinones, nationally renowned author of the award-winning book, “Dream Land: The True Tale of America’s Opiate Epidemic”, will offer a keynote lecture on his research into the catalyst of the current state of illicit opioid use and abuse, in which he will provide insight on how the “unintentional collision” of health care and capitalism have created a perfect storm that has ravished all parts of the country.

Following the lecture, a multidisciplinary panel will provide a locally focused response, including work being done to combat the crisis from the medical, law enforcement, legislative, and community health perspectives. More info
